Location: Office Based – Hybrid working Knutsford, UK
Reports to Editor or Group Editor
Under the supervision of an Editor, you will be responsible for commissioning, writing, and editing articles for publication. Potential line management of an Associate Editor is likely.
You will also be responsible for deputising in the absence of the Editor.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Commissioning, writing, and editing content for publication in a multitude of formats (print, social, media, digital, video, audio) to a high quality standard and deadline.
- Working with clients to develop content for commercial campaigns that meet and exceed client expectations.
- Adapting writing styles to meet the needs of different audiences and internal house style.
- Confidently conducting interviews with industry experts that are engaging and professional.
- Building a reputable professional network of key opinion leaders and content contributors.
- Working autonomously at appropriate times to manage projects and content output.
- Liaising with internal departments including, design, marketing, and sales to ensure high quality and consistency.
- Uploading articles online and using social media with a view to driving engagement.
- Understanding current trends in relation to the brand.
- Proofreading content paying attention to detail.
- Representing and promoting the publication online and at in-person events and meetings.
- Potential line management of an Associate Editor.
- You will also be responsible for deputising in the absence of the Editor.
- Consistently contributing to brand audience and network growth.
- Working closely with the sales team and engaging in client meetings and calls to provide guidance and support to clients on approaches to secure maximum reader engagement.
- Promoting collaboration, and challenging attitudes or processes that prevent progress.
- Sharing resources, knowledge, ideas, and skills across the organisation, building helpful, productive relationships internally and externally.
- Coaching those less experienced team members to build on strengths and improve on areas for development, providing constructive feedback.
Required Qualifications Knowledge Abilities & Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, specifically within a scientific discipline.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Experience of writing and editing is essential, with a flair for creating interesting content.
- Strong communication skills, with a natural flair in writing and verbal communication
- Ability to manage your time effectively, independently and within a team.
- You will be required to travel Internationally as required.
- Attention to detail.
- Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Basecamp, Sprout, generative AI tools, and Content Management preferable.
