New York, USA, April 27, 2021 – The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every medical professional on the planet, a fact not likely to change anytime soon. Teams across the world face questions and challenges regarding testing complexities, vaccine development, new SARS-CoV-2 variants, and strategies for combating the next pandemic. In light of the challenges facing the medical community in the months and years ahead, The Pathologist brought together a panel of experts to discuss these and other key issues in “The Pandemic: One Year On.” The panelists discussed the rise of the pandemic, what future pandemics might look like, and lessons learned from COVID-19 regarding testing, treatment, and vaccination. Pathologists, laboratory professionals, and infectious disease experts (as well as those working in related disciplines) can benefit from the insights provided by the pandemic experts.
Michael Schubert, Editor of The Pathologist, says, “No subject has affected pathologists and laboratory professionals over the past year as much as the COVID-19 pandemic. With some labs struggling to keep up and others facing massive backlogs, with vaccine rollouts underway and debates ranging from the ethical to the practical, with patients in need of healthcare facing delays and difficulties, it’s time to share our knowledge. That’s why we invited five experts to discuss the ins and outs of the pandemic and how it affects our lives – both in the laboratory and beyond.”
Held in March 2021, “The Pandemic: One Year On” roundtable discussion is available to watch free of charge here.
