New York, USA, January 24, 2023 – The whole team at Texere Publishing is celebrating The Analytical Scientist’s 10th birthday, with a special nod to everyone who has helped make it possible.
The Analytical Scientist launched in January 2013 to unite all analytical scientists with a three-word mission: recording, scrutinizing, and celebrating. Ten years on, the brand enjoys a global reach of 186,000 analytical scientists, who see value in common ground.
The year 2023 will see the 10th Innovation Awards, which ranks the best analytical technology, software, and instruments each year, and the 10th Power List, which showcases the greatest minds.
“With its Power Lists of various flavors, The Analytical Scientist does a great job of highlighting the achievements of individuals and showcasing the diversity of the field,” says Ruedi Aebersold, recently retired Professor of Molecular Systems Biology and Chair, Department of Biology, ETH Zurich and Faculty of Science, University of Zurich, Switzerland. “The articles aren’t long winded either – they’re great for exchanging information, while also boosting the self esteem of analytical science. Overall, The Analytical Scientist has been a valuable addition to the field.”
Reflections
From the very first front cover – inspired by Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon – to last year’s scientific spin on Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Analytical Scientist has always strived to be big and bold – not only with its choice of topics but also its design.
The Analytical Scientist has also maintained its strong focus on the personal stories behind the technology, businesses, and breakthroughs – from a deep dive into the minds of the founders of five successful analytical science businesses in issue one to interviews with the researchers behind the #ScienceForUkraine initiative, which were published to coincide with its 2022 Power List.
“This very well-produced magazine has always brought – and continues to bring – interesting articles regarding news in analytical science; it showcases hot topics, draws attention to new instruments, and publishes interviews with interesting people,” says Ian Wilson, Professor of Drug Metabolism and Molecular Toxicology, Imperial College London, UK.
“It is certainly worth reading with information presented in an easy-to-understand manner and thus accessible to a wide audience interested in analytical science. My wish is that these qualities continue and even multiply in the future. Happy 10th birthday, The Analytical Scientist!”
A big thank you
“Time flies when you’re having fun,” says Rich Whitworth, launch editor of The Analytical Scientist and now Content Director at Texere. “I feel honored to have learned so much while having such fun with some of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. Analytical scientists of all stripes, everywhere: I salute you!”
“Over the last 10 years, we’ve dedicated many thousands of pages and countless words to a very special community of scientists – and we would like to thank them all!” says James Strachan, Editor of The Analytical Scientist. “We simply would not exist without the continual support of our phenomenal contributors, our innovative commercial partners – and, of course, our ever-growing global audience, who continue to read, listen, view, vote, nominate, click, download, and share. The whole team behind The Analytical Scientist and I would like to thank everyone for their time and trust – and for the many good times we’ve shared along the way.”
